The Underrated
Behind every major event or achievement, there's often a series of underrated actions that set the stage.

While we witness the final outcomes, we don't acknowledge the small moves required to reach that point. Many of the individuals behind these pivotal moves remain uncelebrated and overlooked.
culture
Culture does not change all at once. It moves through ideas, incentives, and influence long before it shows up everywhere. By unpacking the hidden forces behind trends, brands, controversies, and movements, these stories reveal how quiet decisions shape what eventually feels inevitable.
sports
We tell sports stories by looking beyond the box score and the highlight reel. The focus is on the overlooked decisions, front office moves, power shifts, and moments of timing that quietly shape championships, dynasties, and collapses. These are the forces behind the wins people celebrate and the losses people never fully understood.
music
Great music moments rarely happen overnight. The stories live in the creative risks, business plays, industry politics, and behind the scenes decisions that turn artists and songs into cultural landmarks. From breakout hits to career defining pivots, the emphasis is on the moves that made the music impossible to ignore.

My quick

story

2012
Entrepreneurship journey begins

My entrepreneurial journey started in high school, almost by accident. I was shopping on Karmaloop, buying graphic tees, when a thought kept coming back to me. Instead of buying someone else’s brand, why not build my own? I took a leap of faith and launched Recruits Clothing. It was my first real introduction to what it takes to build a brand from the ground up, from product and design to marketing and storytelling.

2014
Launch sneakerdeck platform

As the tech scene began to heat up, I found myself deep in Facebook sneaker reselling groups. While the demand was clearly there, the platforms themselves were not built for seamless commerce. That gap sparked an idea. While attending Ryerson University, I launched Sneakerdeck, a marketplace designed specifically for sneaker reselling. The platform grew to over 9,000 users, won multiple pitch competitions, and became a crash course in building and scaling a tech startup.

2018
becoming a podcaster

After graduating and eventually shutting down Sneakerdeck, I felt pulled toward content and storytelling. Entrepreneurship had always fascinated me, and podcasting felt like the right medium to explore it. When Anchor launched, I took it as a sign to fully commit. In 2018, I launched the Hustle Over Everything podcast. Through consistent episodes and conversations with incredible people, I sharpened my content skills and began learning how to build a media brand from the ground up.

2019
getting into corporate

Around this time, I entered the tech world professionally, working in sales and partnerships at companies like Vidyard and Clearco. I continued creating content on the side while gaining firsthand experience inside fast growing tech companies. Post pandemic inflation began reshaping the industry, and widespread layoffs followed. Working at Clearco, I saw the writing on the wall before eventually being laid off myself. It was the first major setback of my career, and a turning point

2022
Building a content agency

After being laid off, I saw an opportunity. Short form content on platforms like TikTok and Instagram was becoming essential for professionals and businesses alike. My team and I opened a studio in Toronto where working professionals could batch record content about their businesses, which we then turned into clips and digital assets. Over the next few years, the business evolved into editing content for companies and producing explainer videos for tech brands. As the market became increasingly saturated and demand shifted, I made the difficult decision to shut the agency down

2025
The underrared

Through all of this, one thing became clear. I was most energized by storytelling. I had originally started The Underrated during the pandemic as a newsletter, but after stepping away from podcasting, I knew these stories needed to be told visually. In 2025, The Underrated was reborn as a video driven platform focused on sports, music, and culture. This time, the vision is clear, the purpose is defined, and the direction feels right. We are just getting started.
